A familiar Summerville market is getting a new name — and a new direction.
RYP Unlimited LLC has officially rebranded the former Summerville Artisan & Flea Market as the Summerville Destination Market, shifting the event toward what organizers describe as a more curated outdoor boutique experience.
The newly branded market will make its debut on Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Nexton Elementary School. Admission will be free.
But the larger change goes beyond the September event.
According to the market’s official website, Summerville is intended to be the first location in a growing Destination Market series, with the concept planned for expansion into additional cities under the same brand.
A Different Approach to the Traditional Vendor Market
Instead of operating as a general collection of vendor booths, the Summerville Destination Market is being organized around four themed shopping areas.
The Culinary Corner will focus on artisan foods and specialty beverages. Home & Haven will feature home goods, décor, improvement services and related businesses. The Styles District will center on fashion, beauty and retail brands, while the Lifestyle Pavilion will include wellness, family experiences and community-focused businesses.
Organizers say the event will be capped at 60 curated vendor spaces, with businesses selected to maintain a balanced mix across the four areas.
That represents a noticeable shift from the broader “artisan and flea market” identity of the previous event.
Shopping Is Only Part of the New Format
RYP Unlimited is also adding interactive elements intended to make the market more of a family outing than a traditional shopping stop.
Planned activities include the Passport Adventure, which encourages visitors to explore vendors throughout the market, along with a Kids Creation Station featuring hands-on activities and appearances from Captain Sky, the event’s family-focused character.
A community silent auction is also planned to benefit Nexton Elementary School, tying the event directly to its host location.
Summerville Could Be the Starting Point for a Larger Brand
Perhaps the most notable part of the rebrand is that RYP Unlimited appears to be building more than a single local event.
The Destination Market website describes Summerville as the first market in a series expected to expand into multiple cities.
That positions the Sept. 12 event as both a local market relaunch and the first test of a potentially larger event brand originating in Summerville.
Founder Earnest Glover described the goal as creating a place where “discovery becomes the destination,” with the format designed to combine curated shopping, family activities and partnerships with local organizations.
The First Summerville Destination Market
The first event under the new name is scheduled for:
Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026
9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Nexton Elementary School
200 Scholar Way, Summerville
Admission: Free
The market will feature its four boutique areas, food vendors, local businesses and family activities.
For Summerville, though, the bigger story may be what happens after Sept. 12.
If RYP Unlimited’s expansion plans move forward, the market that began locally as the Summerville Artisan & Flea Market could become the starting point for a multi-city Destination Market brand.
