1. General Refund Policy

This Refund Policy applies to paid digital services and promotional placements offered by What’s Up Summerville, including (as applicable) featured business listings, featured event listings, event promotions, and advertising space (collectively, “Paid Services”).

Because Paid Services provide digital exposure and placement, all sales are generally considered final once the service has been rendered (for example, once a listing is live or an advertisement has run). Refunds are generally not offered once a listing is live or an ad has run. However, if there is a technical error on our end as described in this policy, we will work with you to make it right.


2. Business Directory Listings

2.1 Free Listings

Free business directory listings are provided at no cost and therefore are not eligible for refunds.

2.2 Paid/Premium Listings

For paid or premium business directory listings:

  • Before Publication: If you request a cancellation before your listing goes live on our platform, you may be eligible for a full refund.
  • After Publication: Once your listing has been published and is visible on our website, refunds will not be issued, as the service has been rendered.
  • Listing Errors: If we have made an error in your listing, we will correct it at no additional charge. If we are unable to correct the error in a timely manner, you may be eligible for a partial or full refund at our discretion.

3. Event Submissions

3.1 Free Event Submissions

Free event submissions are not eligible for refunds as no payment is required.

3.2 Paid/Featured Event Submissions

For paid or featured event submissions:

  • Before Publication: Cancellation requests received before the event listing is published may qualify for a full refund.
  • After Publication: Once your event has been published on our platform, refunds will not be issued.
  • Event Cancellation: If your event is canceled after your submission has been published, refunds will not be provided, as our service (publishing and promoting your event) has already been completed. However, we will gladly update your listing to reflect the cancellation at no extra charge.

4. Advertising Services

For businesses that purchase advertising space or promotional packages on What’s Up Summerville:

  • Before Campaign Launch: If you cancel your advertising order before the campaign goes live, you may be eligible for a full refund minus any administrative fees incurred.
  • After Campaign Launch: Once your advertisement has been published or your campaign has begun, refunds will not be issued.
  • No Proration for Ads: We do not prorate or provide partial refunds for advertising time or exposure that is scheduled, reserved, or already in progress.
  • Performance Issues: We do not guarantee specific results (such as clicks, impressions, or sales) from advertising. Refunds will not be issued based on perceived lack of performance.
  • Our Mistakes (Technical Errors): If an advertisement does not run, does not display, or is materially incorrect due to a technical error on our end, we will take reasonable steps to fix the issue. If we cannot resolve it within a reasonable time, we may offer a credit or refund (in whole or in part) at our discretion.

5. Subscriptions and Recurring Payments

If you have enrolled in a subscription or recurring payment plan:

  • Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time. Cancellation will take effect at the end of your current billing cycle, and you will retain access to paid features until that time.
  • No Proration: We do not prorate or provide partial refunds/credits for the current month (or current billing period) after a subscription charge has been processed.
  • Refunds: Refunds for subscription payments already processed will not be issued.
  • Billing Errors: If you believe you have been billed in error, please contact us within thirty (30) days of the charge, and we will investigate and resolve the issue.

6. How to Request a Refund

To request a refund, please contact us using the information below. Include the following details in your request:

  • Your full name
  • Email address associated with your purchase
  • Date of purchase
  • Description of the service or product purchased
  • Reason for your refund request

We will review your request and respond within seven (7) business days.


7. Refund Processing

Approved refunds will be processed using the original payment method. Please allow five (5) to ten (10) business days for the refund to appear on your statement, depending on your financial institution.


8. Chargebacks

We encourage you to contact us directly to resolve any billing disputes before initiating a chargeback with your credit card company or financial institution. Filing a chargeback without first attempting to resolve the issue with us may result in the suspension or termination of your account and access to our services.
